When i was a kid I met some kickass horses because my best friend did horseback riding as a sport and my class did community service with some rescue horses who needed socialization and things like fresh oats and stuff. I remember meeting a lot of them and thinking the ones that looked like they had bell bottom pants were super duper cute!

As a teen, I got to work at a stable for a short time taking care of the horses. They were rodeo horses so they were a bit less docile than traditional horses, especially one called "Crazy George." He lived up to his name! Most of the time I just cleaned out their stalls, fed them, let them in and out of stalls, the basic stuff. But At the end of the shift, I generally got to exercise one, meaning, ride one! Crazy George kinda scared me a bit, but I rode him once and lived to tell about it. My favorite was the friendliest of the bunch named Freckles. She was actually pretty docile for a rodeo horse, so I liked riding her the most because I knew I would make it off in one piece. That job didn't get to last nearly as long because we ended up moving a few months later, but it was fun while it lasted.
But there was this horse a couple miles from my next home and I would ride my bike there often to give her apples and carrots. I think my grandma knew what I was up to when I kept disappearing with an apple or a carrot on a regular basis and then not show my face for a couple hours, but she never said anything. I don't think the owner ever knew I was doing it, but every time that horse saw me, she would come right over to the fence because she knew I had something for her. So she would get a treat and I would get to pet her for a while.
Now I don't live anywhere near horses, and while I love the convenience of being close to everything, I sure do miss getting to hang out with the horses.
So yeah, I love horses completely not ironically.
