Homestuck.XYZ 2.0

I can NOT tell you how fucking exited I am for this. We have no name, no date of release, no nothing. None of this makes sense what so ever, but I can't say that I care! Hussie is releasing a new visual novel sometime soon, and it looks entirely UNRELATED to Homestuck/Post Homestuck Non/canon content! Which has me really exited!

A few things:
- Interesting story, although I will say it does sound like the kind of story that would be in a Lemon Demon song (and I mean this as a compliment)
- The graphics look kind of shitty, although I have a feeling that's on purpose :V
- The 'THIS IS NOT A PART OF THE STORY' bit reminded me of that one scene from the Undertale trailer where a badly-3D-modeled Toriel crashes into some rectangular prisms
- Why the hell is a dude just flipping pistols in the trailer over and over
- Also I just realized the character designs look like knockoff Homestuck, kinda. I have a feeling this is because he has drawn Homestuck for almost a damn decade and he doesn't know how to draw anything else /halfjoke
- I hope this is good. And that it releases soonish.

-Wait... You got anything about the story? The trailer didn't really allude to any story in my opinion... Just sorta show stuff

I have no idea what this trailer is for, but I could find some hints for it on Hussie's instagram.
This one was posted on Nov 20, and it has the game icon, the cards, BTS, the picture of Hideo Kojima, D-Clussie himself (which is Hussie's clownsona)...
Hmm well I just hope it ends up being a fun project.

Hussie's been playing way too much metal gear

I have no idea what to expect, I can only hope its good but I'm so burned I'm not expecting it to be.

The story seems to be something about having shitloads of internet clout and using it for something else like an alternate reality that runs off from it or something like that, pretty weird.

I just hope the art in the final product is better than the art in the trailer,
because god damn what happened.

Well, we've got a release date (February 3), screenshots, a name and a Steam page, it's called Psycholonials. Apparently it's developed by "The Silence Mill", and will be another multi-volume project like the Homestuck visual novels. It also has support for 9 languages, making it the first multilingual project we've seen from Hussie, at least as far as I'm aware.

Still think the art looks like shit.

The difference in pixel sizes bothers the hell out of me.

Also why is he just reusing Aradia face assets for the two protag girls.

I hope Hussie somehow improbably learned his lesson and made a plot outline this time!

I'm still exited even if it isn't what I expected entirely, however the price will be the judge if I give this game/story a go or not, if it's not ass fucking expensive maybe I can do a thread somewhere on here documenting my experiences or smth?

It's stylistic suck. Also Hussie has been reusing assets since forever.

Homestuck also had stylistic suck and reused assets, but this is just... bad.

Like there's doing it for the comedy, and then there's doing it for the laziness, and this just looks like pure goddamn laziness.

Now that the game's out, all I can say is the Trailer makes it look like a really cool story.

The game is great.

The problem is, like usual, that everything Hussie-related is insulted and demeaned by the fandom as intensely as possible. You can see that for The Homestuck Epilogues, for Homestuck Beyond Canon, for Friendsim and Pesterquest, etc. Just as Paradox Space was initially bashed.

There is so much toxicity in this community, and so much of it takes the form of "art criticism" or "ethical criticism". People repeating over and over again that the creators are bad, that they are assholes, con artists, exploiters, crazy people, psychopaths, you name it, and that all of their new work is the shittiest thing on Earth. You'll note that no such complain was ever made about Bard Quest, or about Problem Sleuth - which is, puzzingly, celebrated by the same people who find Psycholonials to be apparently the worst writing and drawing style on Earth.

There's criticism to do, but this visual novel is a very interesting piece worth your time. Don't trust second-hand loathing, develop your own opinion.
