My favorite is the Intermission episode. The voices were perfect and the writing for Scratch’s intro is so damn good. I think this is probably the best possible way to edit Homestuck down from its original content into a more streamlined whole, it is super duper good.

Hard to read too honestly. This and Jade asking Kanaya if her and Rose were actually friends was a big oof.

I can honestly say I’m really sad that they’re leaning into this but I trust/hope there is a way they can reconcile.

On another note though, I’m super happy with Equius’ rap because that kept the spirit of him actually being kinda good at it. The part where Vriska was the reason the trolls could actually speak to one another was a brilliant fill-in for a plothole I never even realized was a plothole.

The bit with the trolls actually being able to talk was hilarious, Karkat being shocked over how his voice sounded was a highlight. Also holy shit that EQUIUS RAP THOUGH. I want to give whoever wrote it seven gold stars, it was so good.

I loved the abridged series since the first act. I recently watched the latest one and my god that was so hilarious!

Stuffs that really got me from it :

- Karkat's memo, especially where Dave was just being Dave (seriously, his dialogues made me dying in laughter)

- John and Rose's convo. my heart....

- John and Vriska's convos are also hilarious and... cute (here comes my shipper heartbeats)

John and Rose convo killed something deep inside me and i don't really know how to feel about it. man, im really hyped to see they both talk when seer descent happens cause oh boi, thats going to be an interesting convo for sure

also someone redpill me on the trolls not being able to talk plothole

Back in the days of serial reading waaaaaaaay in 2009-2011, the only communication any of the characters had that was dialogue based rather than abbreviated narration-style was through chatlogs. Literally no other method was used to communicate, so for a long time the fandom theorized that it meant all the characters were truly mute and could not speak out loud as some form of game construct. This was later confirmed in the first intermission of Act 6, where the narration made some shit up and wrote in a way for the characters to actually speak out loud to one another without having to use a chatlog, called the Gift of Gab. This is when the narration stopped using chatlogs most of the time and instead would just use the names of the characters and what they said.

This was never really addressed again afaik, but now that I think about it, the out-loud discussions the Trolls had in their games WAS a plot hole because they shouldn't have been able to speak out loud to one another yet. The joke they made was great.

Also, I think it is safe to say that the John and Rose convo fucking HURT, man.

"Homestuck Abridged? So like Dragon Ball Z abridged where all the dialogue is given a less serious tone and minor plot elements are changed? Homestuck is already pretty irreverent, I don't know what else they could do to enhance that tone without making it too silly or cringey. I think I'll give it a pass."
