katnep is just one girls puppy crush on somebody she's never met IRL until they played sburb. I don't think anyone was meant to latch onto it like this and karkat's made it clear he wasn't interested in her

You can't handle the truth. I can't help but feel like most Katnep worshippers are just people who self-insert as karkat and waifu nepeta.

I like Katnep! I feel like Karkat doesn't give Nepeta much of a chance despite the fact they share an overlapping interest in romance (Karkat loves romantic movies for example) and he's too infatuated with trying to score with Terezi to give her much thought. There's also Equius hampering Nepeta on the other end of the coin, since it's established he doesn't care for Karkat much at all. Overall Nepeta is very kind and doesn't take Karkat's insults or shitty behavior to heart, she wants to support him even when he doesn't give her the time of day. Meanwhile Karkat really could use someone like Nepeta that doesn't shit on him or whip him into submission, Karkat is ultimately the best when he's taking charge and not hiding away being a sad sack of shit.

At least they were together somewhere, even if it was the Dreambubbles. F to the Katnep that happened there, at least they seemed happy for a brief while.

Katnep, Solkat, and especially Solkatnep are the most powerful ships in Homestuck. Not to say they're my OTPs, but they're effectively reincarnation ships and those are the best.

1. Probably a rude way to word any of this, in general. Not that there's any problem with criticizing a ship, just, you know, emotionally important for some individuals.
2. KatNep is not usually a self-insert ship, funnily enough, what I've seen is that it's mainly maintained by people who want happy things for Nepeta. I don't think that necessarily makes it shallow or 'wrong'. People still ship DaveRezi, KarRezi, GamTav, etc. If it makes them happy, why go against it? It's not like they're advocating for it to be canon or anything.
