Does Hussie even run WhatPumpkin anymore?

For being the man solely responsible for Homestuck and any properties related to the comic, it becoming increasingly apparent that Andrew Hussie doesn't seem to have any sort of agency over the company he created. Does this have anything to do with the new writers being behind Homestuck now?

He chose to create whatpumpkin, he chose to continue Hiveswap's production. Epilogue was entirely his idea. And the very idea that the people he hired out for Whatpumpkin would take over writing Homestuck's sequel was, again, entirely his idea.

He owns homestuck and its related stuff.

I know he owns it, what I'm asking is how much control does he have?

With regards to TraceExcaliburs firing and Katherine Mitchell's continued employment, i find it highly doubtable that he would have had any sort of control over those situations seeing as how they were seeming made on a whim without his consent. Could be wrong though, seeing as how the details seem vague about TraceExcalibur leaving the company. But on the other hand... I have every reason to believe that Kathy being excused for her actions is an act of favoritism among the writers, considering Hussie fired an artist for making pornography of a Hiveswap character.

Probably all of it and he has the power to fire someone who is actually causing trouble and not just causing trouble on twitter? Like i am pretty sure Hussie is a lot more lenient on peeps than most people would be of nonsense, and causing twitter trouble isn't exactly 'get out of my house' level stuff. If they were causing actual trouble for the staff and story or being defiant of Hussie, who literally hired everyone as contractors mind you, they would probably let go. Or if they wanted to leave the company or there is layoffs or some shit.

Also literally that bee troll porn was just a rumor and not true. Her design wasn't going to be used anyway (kinda wish it was, she would be a bit more interesting than zebebe), and was from the abandoned 3d attempt for hiveswap.
And as Trace is still doing some stuff for pesterquest i am pretty sure there wasn't any sore feelings. James roach and Toby both were let go because of whatever the fuck Viz was trying to do there, but they are back on these projects now.

You are basically using conjecture rather than any solid facts. And rather irrational conjecture in thinking that somehow Hussie is not in control of his own story and basically claiming someone should be fired for being an asshole on twitter. The only person that exists in our world today that should be fired for being an asshole on twitter is in the whitehouse right now.

They are all contractors, the team in Whatpumpkin right now, and they are probably gonna be professional even if some of them have more extreme opinions than others.

Even if he doesn't who cares. No offense to Andrew but given the mess that came out of the Hiveswap kickstarter, he probably shouldn't be the one making business decisions anyway.

running the company doesn't really mean he can just fire people whenever and however he wants. it's a small company. you fire one person and their friends probably won't want to work for you anymore, etc, etc, etc.

on the other hand I doubt andrew really cares all that much to fire people except maybe over something really serious anyway. he's running a company to put out homestuck related media and to make money, and both of those things are going along pretty well right now. does he have any real reason to exercise whatever power he may have?

Yea Hussie isn't going to kick anyone from what pumpkin without good cause. And its unlikely any of the staff will give that good cause.

Think peeps are too used to the idea of 'cancel culture' in that someone saying something stupid deserves to be thrown out into the streets instantly.

Hussie didn't fire that person for the bee troll porn. I don't know exactly what happened to her or the rest of that old hiveswap dev team, (and speculating on it would probably be breaking forum rules anyway), but they were let go for unrelated reasons.

James Roach actually wrote about her in his tumblr post for zebede's theme:

https://www.tumblr.com/dashboard/blog/j ... 7102884292

the relevant excerpt is this though:

"this was written for, yes, the fabled beekeeper troll that nobody will talk about. its become some sort of myth as to what happened to her but the truth isn’t that exciting. in early hiveswap days each member of the crew got to “pick” a character that they could choose one design element of. The person who picked beekeeper just had a fantroll based off of herself. they also just… drew micro/macro porn of themselves? a power move, honestly. I met them in person and they offered me weed within literal minutes of meeting so i mean i guess they seemed nice. when they no longer worked for the company it was just simpler to redesign the character than deal with literally any of that. mystewy sowved"

I haven't been in the fandom for years since the Omegapause, and all I'm getting from this thread, but especially from this post, is that Homestuck drama is so powerful that it extends to the official writing team.

I like to think that Hussie is just balls-deep in Hiveswap 2 work and is too busy to work on Beyond Canon garbage. I sure hope he's working on some great story rather than... I dunno, fucking horse brides in Japan while shitting out Toblerones.

God I hope the next Hiveswap game is good :lime:
