Looks like they got the same guy who did the Vriska and Gamzee art to do this one. IMO this one actually doesn't look that bad, at least much better than the Vriska and Gamzee ones, and if I was to really go out on a limb I'd say it's one of the better ones. It's just horrifically stylistically incongruous. I don't know why they keep hiring this guy.

I've said it before, idk here or somewhere else, but they really need to create an actual art bible for PQ. Something that shows all the hired artists what proportions to use, what line thicknesses to use, what shapes to use, etc.

Steven Universe had this same problem, but it's far more glaringly apparent when you're staring at static images.

I think the intended aesthetic is to resemble the kinky hair of a person with African ancestry. Rather than Gamzee’s curls or the waves in Kanaya’s hair or the clumps of Jade’s, this one tries to resemble an afro or other hair textures that are similar.

If that is the case, then it doesn’t seem to be succeeding, because the people in this thread failed to read it as kinky hair and think it’s just badly misshapen.

There's also the matter that the Strilondes are all related genetic clones,
and Dave, Rose, and Mom Lalonde have all been shown with straight hair.

So that probably should have shown up sooner in the other characters, if it's meant to be African curls.

Tried to retain her looking drunk and disheveled (which is why her hair is a hot mess), and I tried to retain some of Rose's PQ features, since they look so similar in the comic.

Idek dude. Haven's art style is actually fine... for some certain type of pop arts. But to work together with other artists in this kind of visual novel game? His artstyle would always looks clashing.

To be fair, his only art sprite I'm perfectly fine with is Nepeta's. His style fits her character quite well. Gamzee's also fine, although looking weird and squished but still matched his character. But Vriska's? Roxy's? That's way too far!

Indeed. Looking at his twitter, Haven seems to be a proud "black artist".
Those are also the reasons why we would be accused as racists for criticizing Roxy's sprite. Good Lord.
